DAVE SHORT
Founder/Estimator
Dave Short founded Black Boot Builders in 2018. A Pittsburgh native, Dave has a passion for creating efficient structures that are built to last. With an interest in building that started at a young age, he relies on a wealth of building and remodeling expertise to find innovative solutions to complex building challenges using new building technologies. Dave is the principal estimator and global project manager, overseeing the firm’s entire portfolio.
ZIA MARINZEL
Operations Manager
A former financial analyst with an affinity for well-executed design, Pittsburgh native Zia Marinzel joined Black Boot Builders in 2020. In her role as Operations Manager, Zia merges her fiscal background with construction and design to handle business operations, including finance, project accounting, marketing, and human resources.
LARRY WEDDING
General Superintendent
Larry Wedding came to the firm in 2019. As a General Superintendent, he supervises all aspects of his projects from start to finish. With a background operating farm equipment in his home state of Kentucky, Larry has a particular passion for site work, including excavation and concrete.
TYLER SOUSA
General Superintendent
After spending time in Florida, Pittsburgh native and finish-carpentry expert Tyler Sousa joined the team in 2023. Tyler is a General Superintendent who manages every detail of his projects from start to finish. He began his construction career as a trim carpenter, specializing in architectural millwork for custom homes and remodeling projects.
SCOTT BYE
Carpenter
Originally from Buffalo, NY, Scott Bye has performed diligent carpentry work with the firm since 2022. A skilled artist in both framing and finish carpentry, he also creates sculptures made of wood and other building materials.
